Don’t Miss What’s New, Fetch Automatically

Turn on automatic fetch and GitComet fetches every open repository in the background, so new commits show up on each tab. GitComet 0.3.3 also lets you fix an older commit message, hide a remote, focus history on a branch and open a branch in a worktree.

Steps shown in the video

Recorded on Linux. The shortcuts below match the recording.

  1. Press Ctrl+, to open Settings, select Remotes and turn on Automatically fetch repositories. Set how many minutes to wait between fetches.
  2. GitComet fetches every open repository in the background without pulling. Each repository tab shows its number of incoming commits, and the sidebar shows how far main is behind and ahead.
  3. Select a commit three commits back and click the pencil in Commit details. Fix the typo in its message and press Ctrl+Enter to update the commit.
  4. Right-click a remote in the sidebar and choose Hide from history graph. Its branches no longer appear in the history.
  5. Right-click a branch and choose Focus to show only its history. Stop focus returns to the full graph.
  6. Right-click a branch and choose Open in new worktree, then press Enter to add it. For a branch already checked out in a worktree, choose Open worktree to jump straight to its tab.
